At a press briefing held on August 8th at Mar-a-Lago, former President Donald Trump strongly criticized Vice President Kamala Harris’s stance on gun control.

“She wants to take away everyone’s gun,” Trump stated, emphasizing his belief that Americans need firearms for protection, particularly in rural areas.

He pointed out that in some countries, loosening gun laws has led to a significant drop in crime, with one case showing a 29% decrease.

Trump also highlighted the contrast between strict gun laws and crime rates, using Chicago as an example.

“What is the toughest gun law in the United States? Chicago. On July 4th, 117 people were shot, and 17 died,” he noted, pointing out that the city’s stringent gun laws have not prevented violence.

He compared this to Afghanistan, saying, “Afghanistan does not have that.”

Shifting the conversation, Trump criticized the Biden administration’s handling of the Afghanistan withdrawal, calling it “the worst embarrassment in the history of this country.”

He claimed that the chaotic exit, led by “incompetent” officials, emboldened Russian President Vladimir Putin to invade Ukraine.

Trump contrasted this with his own administration’s dealings with the Taliban, noting that during the last 18 months of his presidency, “not one American soldier was shot at or killed.”

In his closing remarks, Trump stressed the need for the United States to regain its respect on the global stage.
