The maker of high-performance, double-stack 2011 pistols, a modern take on the venerable 1911, now makes Range and Match ammo. For now, at least, caliber offerings of Staccato ammunition are 9mm, which is no big surprise given the company’s gun lineup. I’ve had the opportunity to shoot lots of both the Range and Match varieties and am happy to report the results might indicate revised names like Match and Even More Matchy.
The Range variety uses reloadable brass cases (are you reading this Handloading columnist, Lindsey?) and a 124-grain FMJ round-nose projectile. The Match ammo uses the every-so-slightly oversized (.356″) 125-grain HAP projectile, which is a non-expanding hollowpoint design.
Performance? I used the Garmin Xero radar chrony and fired five-shot groups from 25 yards using a Staccato P pistol. The Range (1,131.2 fps) grouped between 1.0 and 2.3″. The Match (1,077.9 fps) printed stellar groups from 0.76 to 1.03″.
