Non-expanding ammo is becoming quite the popular choice. Rather than relying on expansion, it usually relies on some form of fluid displacement resulting from a specially shaped projectile spinning at high rpm. Better feeding and no hollowpoint clogging in heavy clothing are some of the benefits.
At just 65 grains for the 9mm bullet, the NXD has rpms to spare. From a Staccato P, I measured an average velocity of 1,855.9 fps. You read that right. Doing the math, that results in the bullet spinning at 83,475 rpm. To put that in perspective, a power drill operates somewhere around 3,000 rpm. Even from a 3.5″ barreled compact, the ammo left the fiery end at a whopping 1,730.5 fps.
As for accuracy, I set up at 25 yards and fired five-shot groups. From a Staccato CS compact, I measured just 1.3″ and from the full-size P model, 1.27″. I call that plenty good enough for defensive use! Norma-Ammunition.com
