A family in downtown San Antonio used their firearms to defend against armed robbers who attempted to break into their car. One of the suspects, a 35-year-old man, was shot in the face during the altercation.
SAN ANTONIO, TX (1-minute read) — Police were called to downtown San Antonio after reports of a shooting near Bowie and East Crockett on Tuesday evening around 5 p.m. According to police, a robbery had escalated into gunfire when a family confronted two armed suspects attempting to break into their vehicle.
The incident occurred near a shopping center parking lot, where a woman, her husband, and their son saw two individuals breaking into their car. The suspects, armed and pointing firearms at the family, were met with resistance when the woman’s husband and son, both armed, drew their own firearms and began shooting. In total, police estimate eight to ten shots were exchanged during the altercation.
One of the suspects, a 35-year-old man, was shot in the face and later taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. His accomplice, a woman, was later arrested at Baptist Medical Center on an unrelated Class C warrant. Police have not yet released the full identities of the suspects involved.
